Reflect

Begin with 2 mins of silence.

Lord, quiet my soul, let me take solace in your presence during this time of advent. Let my heart, mind, and soul be open to reflect, give, serve, and share as we come together as a community during this season.

Scripture: Isaiah 9:6

"For to us a child is born, to us a son, is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

Devotional

By Anna Ueti

Have you ever wondered why there are so many names for God? Prince of Peace, Everlasting Father, King of Kings - all titles: sung in exaltation and praise, prayed in the morning, afternoon and night, cried amid sorrow - so versatile yet still effective in conveying God's nature. God's character is so vast that it can encompass the meaning of all names for him. The reason that we have so many is a testament to who we - in the moment - see God as. A way to describe the nature of who our Lord is to us.

We see him as a Great Comforter amid a season of depression, a Provider during a season of drought, a Rest in a season of fatigue.

We see him as a Great Comforter amid a season of depression, a Provider during a season of drought, a Rest in a season of fatigue. "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven" (Ecclesiastes 3:1), and to every season there is God. He is with us when we: take finals, do laundry, read or watch the news, put on a mask. God is with us in the mundane and the extraordinary.

Question to Consider

Reflect on who God is to you during this season (a Comforter, a Motivator, a Giver). How is God coming to you in this season?

Prayer:

Father, who loves unconditionally, who waits patiently, who plans intentionally, let us rejoice and be glad in you. Let us see you in the morning, evening, and night and call you by who you are. As troubling times are around every corner, let us cling to you for our truth and hope.

Amen.

End with 2 minutes of Silence
